Lecture: the total cost of ownership as a decision-making metric
The total cost of ownership (TCO) metric is often used to compare across vehicles with different propulsion technologies. The presentation illustrates the mathematical model underlying the estimation of the TCO metric and critically discusses its main components. A TCO model, implemented in Excel and parametrized with real world data, is then applied to demonstrate its potential as a simulation tool.
